Sharkoon SATA QuickDeck: an eSATA+USB Docking Solution

Conclusions

To maximize your convenience, we recommend using the excellent eSATA interface. The USB 2.0 is fairly okay though, and it’s available on almost every computer system. Each interface offers its own advantage.
Ii’s still bulky and impractical compared to external hard disk drives, but if you do lots of file transfer from internal storages, this product can save your time. Alternatively, you can also use it as an external enclosure. Thanks to its plug-in mechanism, HDDs or SSDs can be fitted in with ease. No need to loosen some screws as with typical external storage casings.

Pros:

  • eSATA and USB 2.0 interfaces
  • Fits both 3.5” and 2.5” internal storage medias
  • Lengthy USB and eSATA cables
  • Retention lever keeps 2.5” disks in place

Cons:

  • eSATA transfer rate is limited to only 125 MB/s
  • Prevents partition creation in some drives
