MSI N450GTS Cyclone 1GD5 – Good Performance, Excellent Cooler

With its 850 MHz core frequency, the MSI N450GTS Cyclone 1GD5 performs better than a standard GeForce GTS 450 in most of our tests. Like every other GTS 450, whom NVIDIA said to be “targeted at gamers who do not play their games at 1920×1080”, the graphics card also suffers from the lack of sufficient processing power required to run games at higher resolutions. However, that might not matter too much, as most casual or budget gamers are still using smaller monitors anyway. According to our tests, some older games run just fine at 1920×1080 even with the graphics details maxed out. But when running more recent titles, chances are, you would have to compromise a bit. If you don’t want to fall back on the eye candies, lowering the resolution should help.

Another notable feature of the MSI N450GTS Cyclone 1GD5 is, of course, its Cyclone heatsink. Striking in appearance, HSF does a good job of cooling the GPU down to a very safe level, making the graphics card a fine choice for those who want a speedier GTS 450 that comes overclocked right out of the box.

Kinerja : MSI N450GTS Cyclone 1GD5 VS GeForce GTS 250

Both the standard GeForce GTS 450 and GTS 250 are competitive against one another in terms of performance. The former excels in some benchmarks, while the latter takes the lead in several other tests. The story is a bit different with the MSI N450GTS Cyclone 1GD5, which, thanks to the higher clocks, manages to close the gap in those titles where a reference GTS 450 falls behind the GTS 250. Not to forget the fact that the GTS 450 GPU is generally better in PhysX processing. In this case, the MSI N450GTS Cyclone 1GD5 is clearly the winner.

Kinerja : MSI N450GTS Cyclone 1GD5 VS Radeon HD 5770

A reference GTS 450 is no match for the Radeon HD 5770 in some of the softwares we used. But again, the factory-overclocked MSI N450GTS Cyclone 1GD5 catches up and, in some titles, even turns the tide against the HD 5770. You can see this in DiRT 2, Lost Planet, and several other benchmarks in our test.

  • Overclocked right out-of-the-box, at 850 MHz core frequency.
  • Cyclone Heatsink effectively dissipates heat
  • mini-HDMI to HDMI converter
  • Enough performance to run modern games at lower resolutions

  • The memory chips are left without any heatsink cover
