NVIDIA GT 425M – Fermi Goes Mobile
Conclusions
It appears that our first assumption was off by a little bit. The GT 425M is better suited for those who want to play games at 1366×768 and 1280×720 resolution settings, or lower. Some of our games did get more than 30 FPS at those two display settings. Some others –most notably the DirectX 11 enabled titles-need to undergo lots of graphics settings adjustments before they could actually run like video games instead of slideshows. In Lost Planet 2 and Alien VS Predator, we could still enable DirectX 11 features at the expense of other graphics details, which had to be reduced very close to their lowest settings to allow the game to reach 30 FPS. The GPU fared better in DiRT 2 test runs, where we managed to get 29,1 FPS under “Ultra” graphics setting.
As in DirectX 9 and DirectX 10-based games, the GT 425M had no trouble getting past the 30 FPS barrier under high graphics settings. In Batman Arkham Asylum (DirectX 9), we even scored 33 FPS with PhysX (normal level) turned on. It may not seem like much, but, judging from the overall result, we can say that you would still be able to play some games on the low-end, GeForce GT 425M, albeit with some compromise on the graphics quality part.
