Mobile Computing Buyer’s Guide: Entry Level Notebooks

Entry-level Notebooks, Rp. 3.000.000 – Rp. 3.999.999 (US$ 350-450) Price Categories

Advan G4D-61132

Advan G4D-61132 is powered by an Intel Pentium P6100 dual-core processor and 1 GB DDR3 memory. It has a 320 GB hard drive for storage purposes. The display on its 14 inch screen is driven by the CPU’s integrated graphics chip, which shares similar features with the one found in Core i3 processor series.

The price tag of Rp 3.650.000 (US$ 400) is attractive enough to tempt most prospective buyers into at least throwing a second glimpse at the Advan G4D-61132. That price is about the same as most netbooks, but with the Advan, you will get a larger screen and higher performance, thanks o its Intel Pentium P6100 processor that is basically a Core i3 processor without the HyperThreading feature.

Zyrex Ellipse LE4541

Like Advan’s offering, the Zyrex Ellipse LE4541 also comes equipped with an Intel Pentium P6100 processor and 1 GB of DDR3 memory. That combo should make the notebook sufficiently powerful to run most productivity apps without any trouble. The screen size is also similar (14 inch). Storage is smaller though, with a 250 GB hard drive.

At Rp 3.600.000 (US$ 395), it’s a tad cheaper than the Advan G4D-61132. That price point turns the Zyrex Ellipse LE4541 into an appealing alternative to smaller and less powerful netbooks.
