[PR] Romania Defeats Rival European Overclocking Teams to Become the Winners of the MSI Master Overclocking Arena (MOA) 2011 EMEA Finals!
Istanbul (Turkey) – After a marathon two-day battle, the top five EMEA teams in the MSI Master Overclocking Arena (MOA) 2011 global overclocking championships have been decided! The MOA 2011 EMEA Finals were held on April 15 – 16 in Istanbul, Turkey, with the Romanian team reigning supreme over strong competition from the opposition. The second to fifth placed teams were, in order: Greece, Russia, Sweden (the “Expandables” team), and Germany. The five winning teams will receive PC hardware and cash prizes worth between US$2,000 and US$3,500, and will also have the chance to take part in the MOA 2011 Grand Finals, where they will compete against teams from other parts of the world.
After 9 hours of intense overclocking competition over the course of two days, the teams (from all over Europe and the Middle East) burned through over 2,500 liters of liquid nitrogen. The Romanian team – comprising of matose and Monstru – achieved the best performance in the SuperPI 32M category, succeeding in winning first prize overall (and a ticket to the Grand Finals). The Greek team (Stelaras and Aristidis), who were knocked out in the qualifying round last year, got the highest score in the 3D Mark 03 category, giving them second place overall. Russia’s Smoke and slamms came in tops in the 3D Mark 11 category, putting them third on the podium. Sweden’s “Expandables” team (comprising of Elmor and ME4ME), defending MOA global champions, did not perform at their best this time round but were still able to secure fourth place. The German team – loopy83 and kabauterman – secured their place in the top five, and the chance to compete in the Grand Finals, with a sudden surge in the last 15 minutes of the competition.
“MSI is dedicated and determined to continue the success of this event, and this is the 4th year we’ve hosted MOA to rave reviews”, said Jason Lee, MSI’s Director of Component Marketing. He also noted that “Military Operations, the theme of MOA this year, brings the message that MSI has been rolling out military class components to MSI mainboards and graphics cards since 2009. MSI has also independently obtained the testing and certification to meet standards of the United States Department of Defense, showing the stability and quality of MSI products.”
The MSI MOA 2011 “Military Operations” EMEA Finals were a resounding success. Full details of the results, and of the winning teams, can be found on the MOA 2011 EMEA Finals website:
