Team Lab 501 from Romania defeated all opposition with heavy shellfire to conquer the final!
(Taipei, Taiwan) After nine months of qualification in America, Europe and Asia, internationally renowned mainboard and graphics card manufacturer MSI, Futuremark LOC and HWBOT together selected 16 teams of elite overclockers from different parts of the world to participate in Operation Taipei on October 7 at the NTU Sports Center. Operation Taipei is the final round of the Master Overclocking Arena (MOA) 2011 held in Taiwan. After three benchmarks lasting for more than 7.5 hours, team Lab 501 from Romania representing the European Qualification as a first-time contestant took top honors with an excellent result:147.169% increase in performance. Besides winning the most powerful OC weaponry valued over US$5,000 from MOA, the champion also receives a cash prize of US$3,000 and the title “Master of Overclocking”. Team HWBOX.gr from Greece took the first runner-up, and two-time MOA champion team Expandables from Sweden came in third this time.

Team Lab 501 from Romania is led by matose and Monstru. Both are well-experienced overclockers and have won many awards in different OC competitions. In the pre-event web poll, team Lab 501 was the most anticipated team, with votes doubled other teams. They deserved the championship of MOA 2011 grand final.

To meet with the “Military Operations” theme of the MOA 2011, the venue was decorated in the form of a fortress. The OC competition area was protected with camouflage nets and chevaux de frise. The venue was decorated with different camouflage visual effects. The sandbags, oil barrels and wooden ammunition boxes created a strong sense of field operations. This way, audiences could feel the tension of war. MSI Senior Vice President Henry Lu even presided upon the opening ceremony by fixing the bayonet to encourage soldiers to fight until the last team standing. The sexy goddess Amber voted by netizens was invited to be the MSI officer to lead three female soldiers to challenge the extreme of their physical strength and to encourage the OC soldiers. The appearance of sexy MSI Officer Amber captured all the attention of all audiences and brought the event to its climax.

Apart from the dreadful fight of 32 elite overclockers in 16 teams from different parts of the world, MSI recruited 16 computer assembly masters from universities in 8 teams to challenge in the MSI Battle Camp. After the cheerleading team round, the computer knowledge quiz, and computer assembly test, the Huafan University team took the championship from Yuenlin University of Technology with a very little difference. Cheng Shiu University won the third prize. In addition to taking away the computer they have assembled in the competition, the top three teams also won the MSI N560GTX-Ti Twin Frozr II Golden Edition graphics card, the MSI Z68A-G43 (B3) mainboard, the Western Digital® My Passport Essential 500GB (red) portable hard drive!
