Setelah memulai debut perdana di PC buatan Apple, interface Thunderbolt akhinya hijrah ke PC non-Apple, PC berbasis Windows. Di tahun 2012 ini, produsen komponen komputer mulai memperkenalkan produk motherboard Intel dengan interface Thunderbolt. Interface Thunderbolt menawarkan bandwidth total sebesar 10 Gbps atau 2 kali lipat bandwidth yang ditawarkan oleh USB 3.0. Masuknya interface Thunderbolt pada PC Windows tentu mendorong produsen lainnya untuk memproduksi perangkat dengan interface ini tidak hanya untuk sistem operasi milik Apple tetapi juga untuk sistem operasi Windows. Untuk PC berbasis Windows, interface Thuderbolt tersedia pada motherboard Intel dengan chipset Z77. Thunderbolt akan menggunakan 4 dari 16 jalur PCIe pada chipset Intel Z77 sebagai jalur komunikasinya. Ini berarti jumlah perangkat yang menggunakan jalur PCIe akan berpengaruh pada bandwidth total Thunderbolt. Beberapa waktu yang lalu kami kembali kedatangan motherboard dengan interface Thunderbolt besutan produsen Gigabyte. Motherboard bernama Z77-UP4 TH tidak hanya menawarkan feature Dual Thunderbolt, motherboard ini pun datang dengan berbagai feature yang telah menjadi ciri khas Gigabyte seperti Ultra Durable 5.
