SYSmark 2007

Moving on to our first benchmark. SysMark 2007 benchmarking suite is based on a collection of real-world applications commonly in use today, including Adobe Photoshop, 3D Studio Max, Microsoft Office, and many others.

From the four SysMark 2007 test scenarios, we only noticed a slight difference of performance in the “Video Creation” scenario, where Core i7 980X managed to get ahead of the Core i7 975 by 12 points. This particular scenario is especially sensitive to the amount of processing thread available on a system. Other scenarios show only insignificant differences in performance between the two processors. The overall “Preview Rating” was also increased only by a small margin.

3Dmark Vantage

This synthetic benchmarking software provides AI and Physics tests that could take advantage of the many threads on multi-core processors.  The AI and physics scores are included in the “CPU Score” graph, which clearly shows the advantage of Core i7 980X’s 12 threads over the Core i7 975 eight threads. Overclocking further increases the score to above 40.000 points, almost twice the score of the Core i7 975 in default condition.
