If you want the biggest drive available, you have the answer right here: Seagate’s gargantuan 3-Terabyte external hard drive has been launched, ready to store your precious collection of HD videos while you download some more. It should be quite affordable too, according to the press release.

It’s called the FreeAgent GoFlex Desk, and it uses standard 3,5 inch hard disks. The external storage drive is currently equipped with a USB 2.0 interface, but you can upgrade it later to a speedier USB 3.0 or FireWire 800. All these will only set you back around US$ 250.
Now, does anyone really need a space that big? According to a research by Park Associates, by the end of 2014, each computer user would need a storage space of around 900 GB to store all of his/ her digital data. Be it downloaded contents, Blu-Ray DVD video rips, or DVR records.
The GoFlex Desk is fully compatible with Windows and Mac. All the drive enclosed within this external storage solution comes equipped with a MAC-ready NTFS driver. With this driver, the product can operate interchangeably between Windows and Mac OS X operating systems without needing to be re-formatted.
