Acer Aspire One D255: Double the Core, Double the OS
Test Results
Performance

According to our Sysmark 2007 benchmark, there isn’t that much difference between the dual-core atom and its single-core predecessor. It’s fast enough to handle most office applications as well as some other programs that don’t require too much processing power. Still, the extra threads could be handy in multi-tasking scenarios. The netbook could also play some high-definition movies, although it entirely depends on the movie’s file format.
Battery Life

The MobileMark 2007 benchmark yielded a satisfactory result. Acer Aspire One D255’s battery stores enough power to sustain the netbook for 372 minutes, or some 6 hours and 12 minutes. Actually, I’m a bit disappointed because the previous Aspire One managed to hold on longer, albeit with an older processor.
Video Transcoding

Video transcoding is terribly slow on netbooks, and it appears that the Acer Aspire One D255 is no exception. You can compare this result with those of other netbooks. This should not be regarded as a significant issue since netbooks are, afterall, not designed for power-hungry tasks.
