Mobile Graphics Overclocked: NVIDIA GT 425M
Overclocking the GT 425M

Overclocking a notebook graphics is as simple as overclocking a desktop-based GPUs. All you need is a graphics card overclocking software that allows you to increase the GPU, shader, and memory clock. Some of the most common overclocking utility, such as the nVidia Inspector and MSI Afterburner, can be used for this purpose.

Using the nVidia Inspector utility, we could easily increase the frequencies to 700 MHz, 1400 MHz, and 1800 MHz for the core, shader, and memory respectively.

Not just that, we also managed to raise the frequencies by a bit more, 30 additional megahertz for the core, which doubles to 60 MHz for the shader.
Test Platform
Our GeForce GT 425 GPU sample was found in the Acer Aspire 5745DG notebook. As such, the notebook then became the test platform for our tests. The complete specification is as follows:
- Processor : Intel Core i7 740QM @1.73 GHz
- Graphics card : NVIDIA GT 425M
- Memory : DDR3, 4 GB
- OS : Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
- Driver : NVIDIA Forceware 259.56
*Note : Except for 3D Mark Vantage, all of the tests were carried out using the notebook screen’s native resolution of 1366×76,.
