Review Notebook MSI Wind U250: The Ultra-mobile Performer
Conclusions
If you need mobility more than performance, the MSI Wind U250 might be a good choice. Its 12 inch, 1366×768 screen is a bit larger compared to what is offered by most other ultra portable device while still allowing the notebook to be carried easily in your back pack. That screen size provides what is perhaps the best compromise between viewing pleasure and physical dimension.
According to our benchmarks, the Wind U250 is significantly faster than most ultra portable computers, thanks to its AMD Athlon Neo II mobile processor. We were a bit disappointed by the relatively short battery life, though. The notebook won’t last long outdoors, so you’ll have to bring the adaptor along at all time to avoid losing your work at a critical moment. Also, the Radeon graphics on this notebook is not powerful enough to run 3D games, but that’s not an important issue in this segment of mobile computers. At least you are provided with the ability to playback full-HD videos and ATI Stream acceleration in certain programs. These are always a welcome addition.
Pros
- Relatively small, thin, and lightweight for its class
- 12″ screen with 1366×768 resolution
Cons
- Unimpressive graphics performance and battery life
