The use of unibody makes you unable to upgrade by your own, but we noticed that the Acer Aspire S3 has a few screws on the back that can be opened easily. But still, we don’t recommend to do the upgrade yourself because of the risk of losing the warranty. Placement of ports on the back as well due to limited space on the side, but this doesn’t really affect the usage. Unfortunately USB3.0 ports not found on this series. According to interviews we’ve done, Acer S3 will carry this USB3.0 port in their next product.

For other ports completeness you can install the HDMI to D-Sub USB2.0 to D-sub modules, and USB 2.0 to Ethernet. Unfortunately, the module is not contained in the sales package. However, you can buy it separately. For sound, the Acer S3 brings the sound of the Dolby Home Theater for your satisfaction watching movies. Uniquely, the speakers are mounted on this Ultrabook was able to produce a loud sound.Very different from the other tiny notebook in general.

Let’s look to the inside of the notebook, we found that this notebook uses chiclet keyboard design with a color that nearly matching the color of the casing. By using this color, the inside looks boring in our opinion, the absence of iridescence(color balancing) that makes this notebook look monotonous. Imagine if the keys were black, definitely more appealing.

The touchpad is located below the keyboard, it has a width that is wide enough so that your fingers will move freely when doing multitouch gestures. Left and right click functions are fused with the touchpad. Left click is very easy to do. You even can just press the center of the touchpad deeper. But the right click function, makes us take a little more time to get used to using it. However, we feel less exertion to suppress it because it feels quite soft.

Maximum cooling and components placement, making the both left and right handrest are not excessively hot. This improves the ergonomic factor because you can use this device for a long time without feeling the heat interference on your hand.
