LG Akan Meng-update seri Optimus ke ICS

Beberapa saat yang lalu, LG telah mengeluarkan upgrade sistem operasi Android dari Froyo ke Gingerbread. Cukup disayangkan karena update tersebut keluar setelah pengumuman resmi Google dalam mengeluarkan sistem operasi terbaru mereka, Android 4.0 atau Ice Cream Sandwich.

Di beberapa forum, ternyata banyak sekali pengguna LG yang mengeluh masalah pembaruan sistem operasi mereka. Banyak pro dan kontra mengenai keputusan LG mengeluarkan Gingerbread untuk tiga smartphone mereka saja.

Senin (28/11), melalui akun Facebook resminya, LG mengeluarkan pengumuman yang cukup menyegarkan bagi para pengguna LG Optimus. Berikut kutipan pengumuman tersebut.

LG confirms today that the Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) OS will be initially available for the following high-end LG smartphones which were introduced this year: the Optimus 2X, the Optimus Black, the Optimus 3D and the Optimus LTE. We are also continuing to evaluate the ICS OS to determine whether it is compatible with the functionality, features and performance of other LG smartphones to make the ICS OS available on as many LG smartphones as possible.

In December this year, the forthcoming upgrade schedule and additional specific models for the ICS OS upgrade will be posted on our LG Mobile Global Facebook page (www.facebook.com/LGMobile) and on our local LG websites. Please stay tuned for more updates from LG.

Intinya, Desember 2011 nanti, LG menjanjikan upgrade sistem operasi Ice Cream Sandwich di Optimus 2x (Tegra 2), Black, 3D, serta LTE. Untuk seri lainnya, LG masih melakukan penelitian lanjutan.

Dengan begini, umur Gingerbread di LG Optimus sudah dipastikan pendek. Walaupun begitu, ICS yang datang dengan optimalisasi yang lebih baik lagi tentu saja dapat membuat smartphone Optimus menjadi lebih responsif, dan tentunya lebih fungsional.
