Perbedaan utama GeForce GTX 950M GDDR5 dan GTX 950M DDR3 memang hanya terletak pada penggunaan tipe memori. Memori GDDR5 memiliki kemampuan “memompa” data lebih cepat menuju chip GPU, dibandingkan memori DDR3. Secara teoritis, nilai memory bandwidth graphics card meningkat dari 32 GBps untuk versi DDR3 menjadi 80 GBps pada versi GDDR5, alias terjadi peningkatan hingga 2,5 kali lipat. Alhasil jika dibandingkan, graphics card dengan memori GDDR5 dapat dengan mudah “menyalip” performa versi DDR3, dengan kondisi dua graphics card menggunakan chip GPU dengan spesifikasi setara.

Jika Anda perhatikan kembali tabel di atas, Anda dapat melihat jika GeForce GTX 950M GDDR5 memiliki spesifikasi mirip dengan GTX 960M, terkecuali pada nilai clock GPU. Terdapat selisih sekitar 182 MHz untuk nilai base clock di antara dua model graphics card notebook tersebut. Alhasil bukan tidak mungkin GeForce GTX 950M GDDR5 dapat mendekati performa GTX 960M dengan melakukan overclocking.
